Frequently Asked Questions

A: This is a common concern when choosing to have your wedding outside in Iowa.  The majority of days will not be raining and June through September is not tornado season. We do have packages that offer wedding tents that have optional sides, to enclose your guests away from wind and rain.  Our property sits on a hill, so we usually have some type of breeze, even on the hottest days in July.

A:  We have all of the required documents and can help you fill them out.  For a fee of $50 we will help you fill out the applications, notarize the documents and submit to the state.  There is a $35 fee to the state for getting married in Iowa and you will need to have a separate check or money order for this.  We will then pick up the documents when the state is done processing them and keep until the wedding day.  On the wedding day you will need to sign the finished documents along with two witnesses.  We will then submit that paper work to the state and your marriage license will be mailed to you when complete.
If you choose to hire Reverend Stout to marry you, we will waive the $50 processing fee

A:  We offer "extras" that are exclusive to having an outdoor wedding or party.  Such as fireworks over the pond, bonfires and involving your pet in your ceremony.  Please discuss with us any other options or ideas you would like to have and we will do our best to accommodate.

A:  Yes, you may provide alcoholic beverages to your guests.  You may not sell alcohol or have any type of cash bar, otherwise a liquor license will be needed for the event.  We prefer that your alcoholic beverages comprise of wine, champagne, beer and "malt beverages" (such as Mike's Hard Lemonade).

A:  We will offer valet parking to accommodate people with mobility issues.  We will also give them a lift on a golf cart to and from areas if necessary.

Q:  Can I have my rehearsal dinner or gift opening brunch on the property?
A:  Yes!  We also offer these options to couples who are not having their wedding on our property.  A memorable rehearsal dinner of eating outside underneath fireworks or relaxing with family and friends by a bonfire is a unique way to get your wedding weekend started.
